Well, my mom, sister and I did a crazy thing… we decided to go on a last minute weekend cruise and oh my goodness, it was the best thing we could have done for ourselves!  The whole thing felt so normal which, after a long, off balanced 2 years, it was honestly very emotional to feel normal.  The adventure felt so picture perfect and I feel grateful that we finally took the plunge and hopped on a cruise!

The Boarding Process

We traveled to Port Canaveral and the Disney Cruise Terminal.  Immediately, we are greeted by cast members and were instructed to keep on our masks, even when outside.  We were then led to a group of tents where my mom, sister, and I were all tested for covid.  Once our tests were completed, we were instructed to proceed to a holding tent.  There were chairs, air conditioning, and a TV.  We waited for our email with the results and after about 20 minutes of waiting, we were cleared to enter the cruise terminal.  Once we entered, we checked in and we were taken to the front of the boarding line.  This was the first cruise that we have ever cruised concierge so our experience was something else!

Lunch

Once we arrived on the ship, we were immediately escorted to the Royal Palace for lunch.  We started off with champagne and a bread service.  For my meal, I enjoyed potato leek soup and a filet with a truffle wine sauce.  It was absolutely delicious!  For dessert the 3 of us shared a molten chocolate cake, a slice of oreo cheesecake, and a slice of carrot cake.  All 3 were wonderful but the chocolate cake was something really special.

Stateroom

After lunch, we headed straight to the stateroom.  Let me just say, it was big… granted, it was ship big but like, wow.  We managed to book a one bedroom suite and it was a showstopper.  We were so lucky to have the opportunity to cruise at such a luxury level, it was pretty mind boggling.  Like, we had 2 bathrooms.  What the heck?!

The rest of the day was spent lounging around and just getting to be on one of the most relaxing boats in the world.  While we were on the boat, I got to visit with one of my friends from college.  They were doing so well and were so happy and honestly, it just made my heart soar.  It feels like the world is finally starting to settle into the new normal and it is just the most wonderful feeling.  Normalcy is on the horizon and I am so ready to keep moving towards it.

Overall, the experience was a million out of 10.  We felt so safe the entire time, very well taken care of, and just happy.  The whole experience felt worry free.  Granted, there is a little hassle associated with cruising now but it was absolutely worth it.  The days floating at sea just sleeping and needlepointing were so good for my heart.
