Growing into my adult self, I have begun to understand how truly important friendship is. As life continues to throw me curveballs, it is becoming apparent that no life is ‘normal’. Life, death and everything in between is unpredictable and many times, the highest highs and the lowest lows happen when we least expect them. I have found myself depending more and more on my friends. As we go through these experiences together, I have begun to see so clearly that the friendships we create and nurture are those relationships that we will continue when we no longer have our grandparents, parents, or others in our lives. Friends are truly the family that we have the privilege of choosing.

Let’s Get Deep
My friends and I had a game night last night and we played a game that I have never heard of called Let’s Get Deep. The game is perfect for new friends, couples nights, or light-hearted family nights. I am not the biggest fan of games, board games or otherwise, but this game was actually fun! It was light, you didn't have to move any pieces on a board, and it felt like I was getting to know and laugh with people I love.
My Journey to Clearer Skin
My skin has always been something that I have struggled with. When I was in 8th grade, my mom started to teach me the importance of skincare, washing my face, taking off my makeup, a simple routine. However, at the same time, I started wearing makeup… I was sleeping in my makeup most nights which, looking back, seems miserable! I have no idea how I put up with it. Around this time, I started my period and my hormones were in influx. A lot was changing and so was my skin. It wasn’t bad but I would have the occasional pimple. It was no big deal! But then things started going downhill for my skin.
Spring Target Haul
Target is killing the game right now! Their home section is to die for… it is very grandmillennial and every time I stroll through the isles, I swoon at all of the beautiful things. I am usually a Target fan. The price, quality, and variety are always a homerun for me. But this year, things just hit differently. The color palette this year, and specifically the gingham, just do something for my grandmotherly soul. The pieces are perfection!
A Valentine’s Day Love Letter
Happy Valentine’s Day world! I just wanted to pop in with a quick post to say that I am so happy and grateful that you are following along on my journey. I am sending love to each of you reading this today.
My Favorite Coats
typically chose coats that are neutral in color, so I can wear them with anything, but with a fun and flirty silhouette. I opt for coats in varying materials, lengths and styles so that I can use them to accessorize and dress up any outfit. I love a good wool coat and I love a nice puffer, not like a crazy puffy coat but a nice short one with a quilted pattern.
Men’s Winter Wear
One of my gentleman friends asked if I would be able to put together some basics for men in the winter. Naturally, I was thrilled at the notion of creating some basic and versatile looks for men in the winter months. My goal in shopping for winter is to keep things fairly basic. The cold months are challenging because you have to layer so much, especially in Oklahoma where the weather fluctuates so much. So with that, I try to select neutral colors that can be paired with a majority of my closet so I can create a myriad of outfits without too much of a struggle.
Valentine’s Day Inspiration
With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, I find myself loving red and pink shirts and dresses and cute festive socks. While Valentine’s Day isn’t a holiday that I have ever really loved, it is a holiday that I have always thought of fondly. When I was a little girl, my mom would make my sister and I a Valentine’s Day breakfast, complete with heart shaped ice cubes. And then of course there were the class parties which was basically a big candy and cookie fest.
Needlepoint: A Guide to Beginning Part 2
In this post I will be sharing how to begin stitching, a basic continental stitch and how to finish off a row of stitches.
Soft Surroundings
It seems as though a majority of the country has gotten some pretty chilly weather in the last week or so. Oklahoma is supposed to get hit Wednesday and Thursday and I am actually a little bit excited! We haven’t had a real snow this year so the thought of fluffy flurries falling from the … Continue reading Soft Surroundings
